holiday marketing listSanta and the elves aren’t the only ones busy this time of year. With November now underway, the holiday marketing season is officially underway.

For Mom’s Choice Awards® Honorees it is an unparalleled opportunity to have your award-winning product discovered. The Mom’s Choice Awards® Shop is the online destination for consumers who are looking for the best in family-friendly products and services. This post lists three things you can do to make sure your product shines in our store window!

Holiday Marketing Step 1

entry-loginYour first step will be to log into your MCA Profile and go to the screen that lists your award-winning product. Once you’ve pulled up the record …

  • Check the metadata. Whether your product is a book (ISBN) or a product (ASIN), make sure that the number is correct – and matches your product listing on amazon.com.
  • Check the description. Spot any typos or grammar problems? The description should be a concise blurb that describes your product, who its for, and why people would want to buy it.

  • Check your keywords. When people shop the MCA Webshop they arenn’t always looking by product name. The right keywords will help your product get noticed.

Holiday Marketing Step 2

In September 2011, one-third of Americans visited Amazon.com. Love it or hate it, as a seller, it cannot be ignored. Consumers go to amazon.com for research, purchases, and because  works for them. . This step you must do from your Amazon Advantage or Barnes & Noble accounts.

  • MCA_Logo_Color_72_5_Web_1_ligu6u11Check your photo. Is it the right image? Does it have your seal? Adding a seal to your photo will help your product stand out from the rest of the list in a search return for “board games.” Here is an easy way to update your product photo.
  • Have you included your award accomplishments in the product description? Here is a sample product notation for amazon.com

Holiday Marketing Step 3: Reviews & Testimonials

Did you know that 30-40% of consumers will read reviews or comments from others who have already purchased the product they are considering? It’s true. The same IAB survey also revealed that  84% of Millennials say user-generated content has at least some influence on what they buy. Do you have reviews of your product or service? Are they easy to find? Here are some ways to get started …

  • If you know who has purchased your product, consider asking them to offer a review.
  • Got an email or newsletter list? Send out a query and include the links to points of sale where they can add a review.
  • Use social media to encourage reviews. Do not overuse a platform or “bomb” people with requests. Go back through your streams to see if someone who tagged you or left a comment has written a review. If not, ask … politely.

Do not tell them what to say or how to rate it, but explain that you’d like to help more people find your award-winning product / service for their families this holiday season.

Here’s to a happy, successful holiday season!
