In 2008, Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino started the Best Ever Your Radio Network, a blog talk radio podcast. From parenting and pets to beauty/style to technology, Elizabeth has a channel for you. This past weekend, Best Ever You Radio dedicated an hour-long show to children’s books, more specifically writing and publishing children’s books.
Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino, the CEO of Best Ever You, is also the moderator for this live blog talk radio show. Her guests include editor and publishing consultant Emma Dryden of Dryden Bks; literary agent Karen Grencik of Red Fox Literary; and award-winning author Brenda Reeves Sturgis. Together, these experts explored all aspects of writing and publishing books for children in today’s market. As Elizabeth said …
We’ve got that corner of you who wants to write that book … We have some seriously good awesome experts with us tonight to share their wisdom and knowledge on how to write a children’s book.
Of course what is particularly cool for us is that Mom’s Choice Awards winners composed HALF the panel!
Brenda Reeves Sturgis talked about her journey toward writing and publishing her award-winning book. It started with meeting an author at a school visit and following her advice. She wrote her breakthrough story in 2007 and an honorable mention for 10 Turkeys in the Road.
In 2008 after working with an author, it was picked up by Marshall Cavendish, and more recently, it is being published by Scholastic. In November 2011, 10 Turkeys won a Gold Mom’s Choice Awards in the Children’s Book – Humor category. You can also read our interview with Brenda here.
