Ah, November the leaves are down and the turkey will soon be heading to the oven.
Yum! Just thinking about the aroma of baking pies and a house filled with laughter warms me up inside.
The holidays are a long-overdue chance to gather with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks.
This Norman Rockwell painting is about thanksgiving in its truest sense. We tend to call it “Thanksgiving Dinner,” but it is actually the third of Rockwell’s series depicting the Four Freedoms President Franklin Delano Roosevelt outlined in his 1941 State of the Union Address.
For some, Thanksgiving Day is an occasion to help those who do “want.” We serve dinner in soup kitchens and places of worship to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. For others it is a time to gather together to celebrate our blessings big and small.
In the spirit of Norman Rockwell’s evocative painting, we are inviting our Facebook fans to share their own version of the meaning of thanksgiving and family.
There are two rounds, and three winners. Each winner will receive an Amazon gift card that can be used for shopping in the new Mom’s Choice Awards webstore … to get a jump on December shopping!

Round 1 – Call for Entries

Fans of the Mom’s Choice Matters Facebook page can upload photos that characterize the meaning of family and Thanksgiving.
After submitting the required information on the entry form, entrants will receive one entry into the contest. You may earn up to two additional entries during Round 1 (11/21-12/7) if friends you recommend enter too.
Judging period
12/7/2012 @ 12:01 pm PST to 12/9/2012 @ 12:00 pm PST
All eligible entries received during the Round 1 Call for Entries Period will be evaluated by a panel of five judges. Members of the panel include MCA Executive Director Dawn Matheson; Director of New Media Terry Doherty; and three staff members from various departments within the MCA: marketing, advertising, and customer service.
The judges will select 10 finalists. Each finalist will be notified via email and will be sent a friend request from the Mom’s Choice Matters Facebook page administrator upon notification of the judge’s decision. Each entrant is responsible for monitoring his/her e-mail account/Facebook for notification of selection or other communications related to this contest.
Round 2

The Mom’s Choice Awards Judges Team will announce the ten finalists and public voting for the top three images begins.
The winners will be notified by email within 24 hours of final public voting.
“Home for the Holidays” Photo Contest Rules
- You must be a fan of the Mom’s Choice Matters Facebook page to enter.
- Photographs are the only accepted image type in this contest.
- Your photo must be captioned with one word, such as (but not limited to) gratitude, forgiveness, tradition, grace, togetherness.
- You must certify that you own all rights to the photograph. No copyrighted images allowed.
- Each fan may submit up to three separate entries. They do not all have to be the same caption / theme.
- Only one Amazon gift card per person.
