Have you visited your Product Page on the MCA Webstore (aka The Mom’s Choice Awards Shop) recently? Go head, visit right now. Use the box to search for your product / service and see what your Product Page says.
That page is your window to consumers. It tells potential buyers about your company, product and/or service. The Product Page shows them what it looks like, it even tells them where they can purchase your award-winning product or service. Or does it?
The bad news is that your Award-winning Product Page may not be ready for the Storefront. The three most common issues are missing images; missing or incomplete descriptions; and – most critically – missing points of sale.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Even online – especially online – people want to see what a product looks like.
If they come to your page and don’t have an image, they can see that your product or service won an award, but they can’t see what it is.
As a result, they aren’t likely to read your description or click one of the merchants to find more.
More importantly, they won’t remember you or your award-winning product the next time they shop for exactly what you’re selling.
Here are the steps to fix your Product Page.
1. Open a New Tab or Window.
2. Log into your MCAS Account and open your profile.
3. Click here to follow the steps in the Updating Your MCAS Profile Guide.
4. Go to the “MARKETING” Tab.
Product Page Question 1: Why Do I Want Your Product?
Pictures grab your potential buyer’s eye, but they also want to know what your product or service does. They want to read a little bit about your product.
Your description should help them understand what your product or service does (or is about). How would they use it? Who is the audience? It might suggest to them why they need your product.
As you read the description, be sure to check that it is complete. Does it end in the middle of a sentence? Do you spot any other errors? Maybe the wrong retail price?
Typos and grammatical mistakes reflect on your attention to detail and can undermine a great product description.
To fix your Product Page description, follow Steps 1-4 above.
Product Page Question 2: Where Can I Buy Your Product?
One of the things that makes the MCA Webstore unique is that you can advertise multiple points of sale.
You can send customers to the store on your website, Amazon.com, iTunes, even a local merchant. All of the above or some of the above … totally up to you.
Why is that important? Because consumers like choices. Even people who use Amazon.com regularly like to know they have other purchasing options.
Not only do you control which points of sale are listed, but you can also advertise specials and promotions.
Having no points of purchase on your Product Page is the biggest barrier between you and increased sales. There is an easy solution to fixing this issue, too.
First, follow Steps 1-3 above. Once you open your MCAS Profile, go to the “SALES INFO” Tab and make the updates.
While you’re doing your review, it may be worth going to the ENTRY TAB to make sure that your audience description is correct and that you have the appropriate “Age Group” checkboxes complete. Both of these elements influence the search returns when someone is browsing the store.
Last but not least, set a tickler to revisit the page either quarterly or semi-annually. Prices change, points of sale can change, and even marketing strategies change. This way, your Product Page is always in sync with your goals.
